It was a night of glitz and glamour at the 2018 British Wedding Awards this year as we headed to the beautiful No.1 Whitehall and the stunning Gladstone Library. Being nominated was enough but what happened next was truly magical. Finalists at previous award ceremonies we had got used to being the bridesmaid but never the bride! Award-winning was always the missing piece of the business we had dreamed off. After a stunning champagne reception, it was time to take our seats for a beautiful meal and the award ceremony commenced. The mood was hyped by the excitement, the chitter chatter of folk and laughter rang out along with and constant clinking of glasses as people settled at the at tables introducing themselves to others. It was a great feeling to be part of such a wonderful atmosphere. And there we were, halfway through the dinner, before desert it was time to announce ‘Best Wedding Florist’. We were there to enjoy the experience, never in a million years did we expect to hear our name called out! There’s a scene from my favourite film Four Weddings and a Funeral when Scarlet and Charles realise they were late for the first…

With our home in the picturesque village of Stock, in the heart of Essex is it any wonder why we absolutely love stocks. For me they remind me of the start of spring and the fun times of summer that are just round the corner. They are one of the best smelling flowers and available in spring and summer and will bring any kitchen or front room alive with their beautiful aroma.. Matthiola Incana is their latin name but we thought that was too much of a mouthful to call a flower shop! Named after Italian botanist Pietro Andrea Mattoli who discovered them in the 1500’s and a distant relation to the cabbage family. These definitely got the looks of the family. Sometimes called the Gilly flower and a delight to see growing in british gardens in summer. A signature flower for Stock Florist and seeing used more and more in our bridal work they really are a dream to work with. They also represent lasting beauty and a happy life. Easy to maintain with an angled cut of the stem, a vase of fresh water they are a beautiful addition to your home. Available at SFHQ from Spring to…

Every year in the village we love the Stock Flower Festival is a chance for us to let down our hair and party! Teams from across the village compete in the annual fancy dress dinner and this year was no excuse as Stock Florist & Edward Taylor Hair combined forces to enter as ‘The Mad Hatters’ !! Only three months before the ‘theme’ was announced - ‘Disney’ - so we all had to plan a costume, theme to arrive on the village glebe and how to wow (or bribe) the judges!!! From cars dressed as Pirates of the Caribbean Ships to fancy dress Magic Kingdoms which came alive with Disney Characters it was a memorable evening. Chimney sweeps from Mary Poppins, Mickey Mouse with ice bucket shorts (Disney on Ice!) & Sophisticated Cats it really is a wonderful evening for all. With make up by @gvm_makeup and @ellemortimermua AND hair by @edwardtaylorhair we were going to win!!! And you guessed it! winner of Best Fancy Dress went to ‘The Mad Hatters’!!! - we only bloody won!!! An amazing achievement for all of us and so much fun…see you next year!!

From Saturday 10th February to Wednesday 14th February, Stock Florist was at Fenwicks in Colchester. We were selling our beautiful Valentines bouquets from a lovely flower cart down on the ground floor. We had some great comments from people about our flowers and completely sold out of our mixed bouquets, dozen and half-dozen rose bouquets. This year we chose Roses, Hydrangeas, Chrysanthemums, Carnations and Alstroemeria for our mixed bouquets. Roses are so elegant and can have a gorgeous perfume, while the petals on the Alstroemeria are so pretty with their streaks of colours. It was a lovely few days and the staff at Fenwicks were all very helpful and friendly. We’re already looking forward to our next visit for Mother’s Day.
